Healthcare


Most of the time we feel well. We can play sports, go to work and enjoy our lives. But sometimes we just don't feel well.
Some people have medical insurance but most people can't afford it and rely on the National Health Service, the NHS. This is provided by the government in Britain.
The NHS has sent everybody in Britain a Self-Help Guide. This will help you diagnose what is wrong and find the best treatment.
You may need to go to the chemist to buy cough mixture or pills for a headache. There are lost of medicines you can buy.
You can get a prescription from a doctor. Doctors work in surgeries or health centers. The doctor examines you a prescription for medicine to cure you.
Doctors and medical staff can cure lots of illnesses now using surgery and treatment with drugs.
Many people prefer alternative medicine. This can include many kinds of treatments using both very modern techniques. Other alternative treatments is Chinese herbs.
Hopefully these treatments won't be necessary. The best way to avoid getting ill is to have a healthy diet, get lots of exercise and take good care of yourself. You shouldn't then need to use the healthcare system at all!

Computers


Computers are a very important part of our lives. They tell us about delays to transport. They drive trains, analyses evidence and control buildings. Did you know that 60% of homes in Britain have got a personal computer. For many young people, playing computer games is their favorite way of pending spare time.
The smart home is now a real possibility. It will become very common.
A central computer will adjust the temperature, act as a burglar alarm and switch on lights ready for you to come back home.
If the temperature outside changes, the smart home will adjust temperature levels inside. The computer will also close the blinds when it gets dark or to stop too much sun from entering a room. 44% of young people between 11 and 16 said their PC was trusted friend. 20% said they were happier at their computer than spending time with family or friends. Another survey found that people in Britain spend so much time on the phone.

Transport in London

Exploring Mars is going to be very exiting, but for now, it's easier to explore our own planet! In particular, London.
Trains travel into London from all over the country. They are very important for people who live in the suburbs or outside London and travel into London for work. 1,8 million people travel into the centre of London by train every day.
For many people the journey by train takes them to a convenient Underground station. London Undergraound, usually called the Tube, was the first in the world when it opened in 1863.
The different kinds of transport link up pretty well but sometimes you have to walk from one point in the journey to the next.
People use lots of other froms of transport in London. Some people use boats on the River Thames to go to work.
The car isn't very good in London because they move very slowly.
The buses and taxis travel more quickly because they have a got special lanes on the road.

Mariteme in Britain


In England no town is more than 170 kilometers from the sea. So it's no surprise that Britain has very important history of ships and the sea.
The British navy was the bigger navy in the world at on time.
In Liverpool there is a great museum of maritime history.
The Cutty Sark is a tea. It was very profitable and made many people very rich.
Between 1830 and 1920 more than nine million people from all over Europe left from the port of Liverpool to start a new life in America or Australia.
The most famous ship was probably the Titanic.
One of the most famous shipping companies is Cunard.
The majority of people do travel around the world by plane.

Horror film


People like to scared. They love reading horror stories and watching horror movies. The firts was published by Mary Sheller in 1818-Frankenstein. Many films have featured Frankenstein over the years.
One of them put two great horror characters together when Frankenstein met Count Dracula. Dracula contra Frankenstein was made by the Spanish director Jesús Fronco in 1970. Count Dracula was a vampire created in 1897 by the Irish writer Bram Stoker.
Dracula is so popular that visitors to London can go on a guided Dracula tour.
